Barcelona coach responds to news of Messi's return

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez responded to inquiries about the possibility of returning Argentine star Lionel Messi, who is currently playing in the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain, to the "Camp Nou".

Xavi said, in comments reported by the Spanish newspaper "Sport", on Tuesday: "It makes no sense totalk about Messi's return to Barcelona at the present time."

He added, "Messi has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain, so his return is currently impossible, and we will see in the future."

He concluded: "President Joan Laporta has already said that he hopes that Messi's departure will not mark the end of his story with Barcelona."

The 35-year-old's contract with the Paris club expires in the summer of 2023, but his contract includes a clause on the possibility of extending it for an additional season.

It is noteworthy that several press reports have come out in the past few days, according to Xavi Hernandez's request from Juan Laporta, president of the Catalan club, to return Messi to Barcelona, immediately after the end of his contract with the French capital club.
