Volodin: The West tried to isolate Russia, but only itself

The Speaker of the Russian State Duma (deputies), Vyacheslav Volodin, commented on the results of the Petersburg International Economic Forum by saying that the West, which tried to isolate Russia, ended up isolating itself.

Volodin wrote on "Telegram" today, Saturday: "Yesterday I participated in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. It was attended by representatives of 127 countries, the population of which constitutes 73% of the world's population. The West tried to isolate Russia, but in the end it isolated itself."

Volodin added that the State Duma will make every effort to adopt the laws required to implement the proposals made by President Vladimir Putin during his speech at the forum, as soon as possible.

"What is the main thing for us? To be independent and sovereign, guaranteeing future development.. President (Putin) indicated that he had repeatedly appealed to the business elite to invest in Russia's development. Those who did not listen incurred losses by stealing from the West," Volodin continued.
